New financial disclosures laid out President Donald Trump’s investment accounts’ trades in oil and natural gas companies during the Iran War.
Trump’s accounts traded hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of shares of Chevron, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, and other oil and gas companies in the second quarter of 2026, CBS News reported.
The president has a vast stock portfolio, but the White House has continually said he is not directly involved with any of the trades.
“President Trump’s stock and bond portfolio is independently managed by third-party financial institutions,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle told the outlet.
Ingle said Trump’s accounts are “maintained in discretionary accounts and invested through computer-based model portfolios that automatically replicate recognized indexes.”
In the first three months of the year, Trump’s accounts did more than 3,000 stock trades, worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
The frequent trading has led to ethics concerns among critics.
Democrats on the Joint Economic Committee, or JEC, claim Trump has earned millions from his oil and gas holdings, all while overseeing the ongoing war. Financial disclosures are not required to include specific dollar amounts, only the range of transactions made.
Trump’s holdings in oil and gas companies saw their value triple this year, hitting more than $60 million, Democrats on the JEC said in a statement.
CBS News’ review of the financial disclosures highlighted a notable April transaction which came hours before Trump announced a conditional two-week ceasefire with Iran.
Trump’s accounts reportedly sold between $500,000 to $1 million in ExxonMobil stock that day, prior to the announcement.
The Exxon share price closed at about $154 on April 7 and opened to a drop of approximately $10 or 6.5%.
Ingle said neither the president or members of his family can “influence, or provide input regarding how the portfolio is invested or when investments are bought or sold.”
