Varna to Host Second International Forum of Bulgarian Chitalishte

Varna hosts the Second International Forum of Bulgarian Chitalishte (Community Cultural Centres) from October 1 to 3, the organisers from the Vasil Levski 1945 Community Cultural Centre in the coastal city announced on Monday. The forum will bring together representatives of cultural and educational institutions from different regions of Bulgaria, Bulgarian communities abroad, cultural and educational organisations, and experts.
This year, delegates will discuss what needs to change to ensure that community cultural centres can not only preserve their unique role, but also continue to develop it in the face of new social, technological and cultural realities. The discussions will focus not only on successful practices, but also on the real challenges facing the centres, including management, funding, administrative burdens, staff capacity, engaging younger generations, digitalisation, partnerships, and opportunities to play a more active role in local development.
A special place in the programme will be given to the topic “Managing the Modern Community Cultural Centre – Tradition, Responsibility and New Models of Development.” Participants will have the opportunity to share different perspectives, discuss practical solutions, and raise issues that call for broader public and institutional debate, according to the organisers from the Varna community cultural centre.
The international dimension of the forum will be further expanded this year through the participation of representatives of Bulgarian communities living abroad. The programme will provide opportunities for exchanging experience and developing new partnerships in the fields of cultural exchange and international cooperation. One of the highlights will be a dedicated session on cultural bridges between Bulgaria and China, partnerships, and new opportunities for promoting Bulgarian and Chinese culture.
Where the Past Inspires the Future is the motto of the Second International Forum of Bulgarian Community Cultural Centres, which is being held with the financial support of Varna Municipality’s Culture Fund.
