Balgarianovinite.com Measures proposed by Prime Minister Rumen Radev and his Progressive Bulgaria party are “palliative” and demonstrate incompetence, Vazrazhdane party leader Kostadin Kostadinov said in a statement distributed by the party’s press office. According to Kostadinov, price controls are incompatible with a market economy.
“The opposite would mean that Bulgaria has lost its status as a market economy,” he said.
Kostadinov argued that the solution to rising prices lies in lifting sanctions on Russia to reduce fuel prices, abolishing carbon emission quotas to lower electricity costs, and restoring the Bulgarian lev as national currency in order to curb inflation.
He added that Radev would not implement any of those measures.
Earlier on Monday, Progressive Bulgaria announced it had submitted two draft laws to parliament aimed at eliminating unfair trade practices. One of the bill proposes amendments to the Protection of Competition Act, while the other targets changes to the Consumer Protection Act. The party also said it would introduce legislation extending the Euro Act by one year.
