Balgarianovinite.com Weightlifter Viktor Kostadinov won another medal for Bulgaria at the 2026 European Youth & U15 Championships in Pristina, Kosovo on Monday.
Competing in the 70kg category, the 17-year-old athlete, coached by Ivan Tsankov at Maritsa Plovdiv, won bronze in the combined total. Kostadinov lifted 270kg, with 121kg in the snatch and 149kg in the clean and jerk. Although the Bulgarian narrowly missed out on individual medals in both disciplines, his overall total was enough to earn him bronze.
In the snatch, the Plovdiv-based lifter successfully completed all three attempts at 115kg, 119kg and 121kg, finishing fifth. In the clean and jerk, Kostadinov cleared 145kg and 149kg to secure bronze in the category. On his final attempt, he successfully cleaned 152kg but narrowly failed to jerk the weight. Had he completed the lift, he would have taken silver in the clean and jerk.
David Kiladze of Georgia won the title with a combined total of 280kg (125+155), while Turkiye’s Toprak Koleoglu was runner-up with 279kg (128+151).
Bulgaria now has six medals at the championships in Pristina. Earlier, Milen Komarevski of Mizia Kneja won three silver medals in the 60kg category among the 15-and-under cadets. At the start of the championships, Beloslava Koleva of Titan Varna won bronze in the combined total and silver in the snatch in the 45kg category.
