Train traffic on tracks 1 to 11 at Sofia Central Railway Station will be temporarily suspended during reconstruction work, the National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC) said on Tuesday.
The suspension will run from November 2, 2026, to March 18, 2027, while the railway junction in the station area is reconstructed.
During this period, Sofia-Petrich trains will use dead-end tracks 2, 4 and 6. Dead-end track 6 will also serve Sofia-Bankya and Sofia-Dragoman trains. Sofia-Plovdiv services will use track 12, while Sofia-Mezdra services will use track 13.
The following direct services will continue to use Sofia Central Railway Station: Sofia-Burgas (train Nos. 3621 and 8627), Sofia-Kapikule (No. 493), Sofia-Varna (No. 8657), Burgas-Sofia (Nos. 8626 and 8612), Varna-Sofia (No. 8656) and Plovdiv-Sofia (No. 1620).
Passengers on other services normally arriving at or departing from Sofia Central Railway Station will have rail connections to and from Poduyane Passenger Station and Iskar Station. The affected trains will continue or terminate their journeys at those stations.
NRIC urged passengers to check updated timetables in advance and plan their journeys accordingly. A detailed timetable for affected trains is available through Bulgarian State Railways’ online journey planner.
