Balgarianovinite.com In August 2026, the total business climate indicator preserves approximately its July level (from 16.8% to 16.6%). A reduction of the indicator is observed in the industry, construction and retail trade, as only in the service sector an improvement is reported, the National Statistical Institute said on Friday.
The composite business climate indicator in industry fell by 0.9 points in August, reflecting less favourable assessments by industrial entrepreneurs of the current business situation of their enterprises. Business climate in construction declined by 1.6 points, due to construction entrepreneurs’ cautious expectations about the business situation of their enterprises over the next six months. At the same time, their forecasts for construction activity over the next three months were also unfavourable.
In retail trade, the indicator decreased by 1.1 points, as retailers’ assessments of the current business situation shifted from “good” to “unchanged”. Their expectations for sales volumes and orders placed with suppliers over the next three months also became more moderate. Business climate in the services sector increased by 3 points, driven by managers’ positive assessments and expectations regarding the business situation of their enterprises.
