Bulgarian football champions Levski claimed their first point in the league phase of the UEFA Europa League after drawing 1-1 away to NEC Nijmegen in the Netherlands in the second round. Brazilian forward Reinaldo opened the scoring for the Sofia-based Blues in the first half, while a mistake by goalkeeper Svetoslav Vutsov allowed Tjaronn Chery to equalize in the second half.
Levski produced a very strong and almost flawless first-half performance from a tactical point of view, but the hosts dominated for long periods after the break and missed several good chances. Levski had one good opportunity during this period, but substitute Oko-Flex failed to take it.
The point was also NEC’s first, while Levski’s next test in European competition will come on October 22, when they travel to the Czechia to face Viktoria Plzen.
