Balgarianovinite.com The Sofia City Court (SCC) ruled in favour of the Bulgarian National Karate Federation (BNKF) in a lawsuit brought by four karate clubs in Haskovo, Kardzhali, Kyustendil and Sofia, the BNKF said in Tuesday. The claimants had sought to overturn the resolutions adopted by the BNKF General Assembly on July 18, 2025.
The ruling is subject to appeal, but if it is upheld definitively, it will pave the way for the registration of the BNKF Management Board elected on July 18, 2025, and for the Ministry of Youth and Sports to release the BNKF’s state funding for 2026. This will make it possible to provide the necessary financial support for the national team’s preparations, participation in the upcoming World Championships, the staging of the second phase of the National Championships, and all other activities included in the federation’s sporting calendar.
According to the BNKF, the court proceedings, which lasted for nearly a year, created serious difficulties for the federation’s operations. The most significant consequence was the delay in the registration of the newly elected leadership, which effectively blocked the release of state funding. As a result, not only the federation but also all affiliated clubs, athletes, coaches and Bulgarian karate as a whole were affected, as a number of planned activities had to be carried out under extremely limited financial resources.
