Balgarianovinite.com Korneliya Ninova, leader of the Defiant Bulgaria National Movement party, during a visit to Kyustendil on Saturday, said, “We stand firmly, consistently, and unwaveringly against the existing model of governance represented by GERB and MRF.”
“I have fought this model for ten years and I will not give up,” Ninova added, noting that the party will pursue a strong social policy.
“At the moment, the most pressing issue is rising prices, driven by the war in Iran, and we have concrete measures to address this. Excise duties and VAT on fuel must be reduced, which will immediately bring prices down. Bulgaria should also repatriate its reserves stored in other European countries and release them onto the market, and, of course, incomes of the poorest must be compensated,” she said.
On long-term policy, Ninova said the party supports changes to the tax system. “We propose introducing a tax-free minimum threshold and increasing the tax on bank and monopoly profits from 10% to 15%. The additional revenue generated should be distributed fairly to those who need it most. We stand for an economy driven by small and medium-sized businesses, which are the lifeblood of the economy, and we are committed to preserving Bulgarian food production and agriculture,” she added.
“I have long fought against Bulgaria being turned into a dumping ground for hazardous waste from Europe. Children and families are our priority, as is the protection of Bulgaria’s national interest within the EU, of which we are a member,” Ninova said.
