Democratic-backed independent Senate candidate Dan Osborn of Nebraska was caught on leaked audio raging about Sen. Deb Fischer (R-NE) as “that b*tch.”
Daniel Lippman, a White House reporter for Politico, shared the recording on social media Friday, writing that Osborn’s remarks had “offended at least one campaign volunteer.”
Osborn ran against Fischer in Nebraska’s 2024 Senate race. He ultimately lost to the Republican incumbent despite mounting an unexpectedly competitive campaign in the deep-red state.

According to Friday’s edition of Politico’s Playbook, Osborn made the comments at a campaign event near Omaha this summer after watching one of his 2024 campaign ads. Though Politico obtained the audio from a separate source, his words were initially recorded by a campaign volunteer — the same one Lippman identified as having been “offended” by the remarks. That individual has since left the campaign.
The recording begins with the Osborn ad in question, in which the independent slams Fischer for having repeatedly “lied” on a range of issues.
“And I f*cking lost to that b*tch!” Osborn was then heard screaming.
In a statement to Politico, he expressed remorse over his words, explaining, “I’m a sailor, and sometimes I swear like one and make stupid jokes. I was wrong to speak that way about Senator Fischer.”

Osborn is currently facing Sen. Pete Ricketts (R-NE) in this upcoming election cycle. The Republican senator seized on the reports on social media, writing, “I condemn Dan Osborn’s vulgar and disrespectful remarks about Senator Fischer. This kind of language has no place in Nebraska politics,” and adding, “Nebraska deserves a senator who treats every Nebraskan with respect and dignity. Dan Osborn is not that person.”
And Fischer told Politico, “Of course he lost, and he will lose again. Pete will win this.”
MS NOW polling predicts an extremely tight race, with Ricketts currently leading Osborn 46.9% to 45.8%.
