A Democratic candidate for a county council seat in Indiana addressed the viral video of her slurring her way through a televised interview.
Jamie West is running Fayette County Council District 4. Last week, numerous clips of her attracted national attention due to her slurred speech and eyebrow-raising comments. At one point in the interview, West said if she won the seat she would fire “all Republicans” and added, “I don’t even like them.” She then went on to attack MAGA and ended the interview with, “We have guns, too.”

Many speculated that West was under the influence of alcohol during the interview. On Monday, she appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored and confirmed she did have a few drinks.
The exchange went as follows:
MORGAN: A lot of people — I’m gonna be completely straight with you — a lot of people assumed you might’ve had a drink before you did that interview. Did you?

WEST: I had a Coors Light. I had a beer.
MORGAN: One beer or–
WEST: Maybe a couple.

WEST: I was nervous, OK! I was going in a room with full Republicans!
MORGAN: Look, we’ve all had a drink when we’re nervous, but just to be clear– Jamie, here’s your chance to be completely honest and transparent. How many beers did you have?

Piers went on to ask if West if she accepted that she “may have been a little intoxicated.” West assured him that she wasn’t “that intoxicated.”
“But I do know what I’m talking about when it comes to Indiana politics,” West added.
She then told Morgan she had no regrets over her comments about Indiana Republicans, adding she says those things “all the time” and stating she’s “not friends” with her Republican colleagues.
