Balgarianovinite.com The election campaign for the snap parliamentary vote on April 19 officially began at 00:00 on Friday, in accordance with the election schedule. The vote will be the eighth since 2021.
Under the Election Code, citizens, parties, coalitions, initiative committees, candidates and their representatives have the freedom of expression and the right to conduct election campaigning, both orally and in writing at campaign events, as well as through media service providers. The campaign is conducted in the Bulgarian language.
A total of 24 political formations will take part in the elections – 14 parties and 10 coalitions. All formations have registered candidate lists in every electoral district. There is one independent candidate in Smolyan. For comparison, in October 2024, 19 parties, nine coalitions and one independent candidate were registered.
A total of 4,786 candidates for members of parliament have been registered. Of them, 1,439 are women and 3,347 are men. In two electoral districts, 1,019 candidates have been registered.
On Wednesday, the Central Election Commission drew the ballot numbers of the parties and coalitions.
The election campaign will continue until 24:00 on April 17.
