Balgarianovinite.com About 98% of complaints about excessive electricity bills submitted to the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) are from customers who use electricity for heating, mainly with air conditioners, EWRC Chair Plamen Mladenovski reported during a hearing in Parliament on Thursday.
Mladenovski specified that the Commission receives around 200 complaints daily, and its investigation has not yet been completed due to the large number of complaints. It is currently working on over 4,600 complaints, of which 2,548 have been analysed. He added: “Our analyses began in five areas – first, whether the prices have been applied correctly, because the price of electricity has not changed since July 1, 2025. So far, no violations have been found in this area. The second area in which the EWRC has carried out a quick investigation is the length of the reporting period, which must be up to 31 days, and no violations have been found in this regard.”
The next area is whether the bills have been correctly revalued, and in this respect. The investigations have not revealed any deviations there.
Another area that the investigation focused on was an analysis of the quantities of energy purchased from the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange.
