Bulgarian Energy Minister Iva Petrova will be attending the second quadrilateral forum of the energy ministers of Serbia, North Macedonia, Greece and Bulgaria in Belgrade Tuesday, her Ministry told BTA. The four countries’ officials will discuss the development of regional energy cooperation, Tanjug reported, citing the Serbian Ministry of Mining and Energy.
In addition to Iva Petrova, the talks will be attended by Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Dedovic Handanovic, Greek Minister of Environment and Energy Stavros Papastavrou, and North Macedonia’s Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozinovska.
The main topics will include changes in the European energy market, diversification of supply routes and sources, and strengthening energy connectivity among the countries in the region.
Particular attention is expected to be paid to infrastructure projects that could enhance the security and flexibility of natural gas and electricity supplies and reduce dependence on individual routes.
The four countries also face the need to increase generation capacity and investment in renewable energy sources, Tanjug notes. The ministers are expected to discuss specific projects of regional importance and the next steps towards deepening cooperation in the areas of energy security, infrastructure and the interconnection of national energy markets.
