Balgarianovinite.com Bansko Jazz Festival continues the fifth day of its programme with the Hungarian musicians from Djabe and Marina Gospodinova’s Come Dance with Me project, who will perform on Tuesday evening.
Hailed by critics as “one of the best fusion bands in the world,” the musicians from Djabe have spent more than three decades building their own musical universe, where jazz, world music, progressive rock, and ethnic traditions come together in a unique sound, the festival organizers said.
Founded in 1995, the band has released more than 50 albums and performed in over 40 countries worldwide. A particularly important chapter in the band’s history is its long-standing collaboration with Steve Hackett, the legendary guitarist of Genesis, who famously described Djabe as “the best band I have ever played with”. In recent years, the group has also worked closely with Chieli Minucci, leader of the Grammy-nominated jazz fusion ensemble Special EFX.
In 2026, Djabe returns to Bansko with its classic six-member lineup: Zoltan Bubenyak (keyboards), Zoltan Zanai (saxophone and EWI), Tamas Barabas (bass guitar), Attila Egerhazi (guitar and percussion), Aron Koos-Hutas (trumpet and flugelhorn), and Peter Kaszas (drums and vocals).
Before them on the main stage will perform Marina Gospodinova, together with Konstantin Kostov (piano) and Dimitar Karamfilov (double bass), who belong to the new generation of Bulgarian jazz artists, and will play a repertoire of jazz classics, bossa nova and original compositions featured on Gospodinova’s new album.
The Bansko Jazz Festival is organized by the Festivals in Bulgaria Association and the Municipality of Bansko.
