They may have apologized for laughing at an “insensitive joke” about the deceased Charlie Kirk, but the hosts of the I’ve Had It podcast made crystal clear Sunday that they will not capitulate to any pressure from Turning Point USA.

Hosts Jennifer Welch and Angie Sullivan apologized Saturday for laughing at an X post saying, “We’re digging up Charlie Kirk and doing it again,” after the Democrats trounced Republicans in the midterm elections.

They posted a statement to instagram reading:

On Thursday’s show, we laughed at a joke about Charlie Kirk. It was an insensitive joke, and we should not have laughed. We regret it, and we apologize.
Whatever our political differences, there is nothing funny about gun violence. We’ve long supported common-sense gun safety reform.
To that end, we’ve made a donation to Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in America.
We’ll keep using our platforms to fight for the safety of all Americans.

But Charlie’s widow Erika Kirk went after the hosts Sunday, writing in part, “A culture that laughs at assassination is one of profound moral decay.”

TPUSA’s Andrew Kolvet has used his X account to keep a running tally of the sponsors who bowed to right-wing pressure and pulled their support of the IHI podcast.

Sunday afternoon, Welch and Sullivan had plenty to say to Kolvet.

“So, now they’re trying to ignite a war with us because they want to prove to their donors, ‘We can cancel libs,’” Welch said. “This is the guy that leads the charge over at Turning Point. He says, ‘If they apologize’ —’ he’s talking about us — ‘for being part of a toxic and evil culture that perpetuates violence against conservatives, I might actually be willing to listen.’”

Welch continued:

Andrew, we’re never ever going to sit down and listen to you. When we apologize for laughing at a joke on our podcast — that wasn’t for you. That was for us because somebody I love very much died from gun violence two years ago and I just didn’t feel good about that. And that apology was so that when I advocate for common sense gun reform, that I’m doing it clean and clear.
I don’t expect you to understand this because at Turning Point, you all laugh at violence all the time. You talk about how empathy is toxic and a worthless feeling, so I don’t expect you to understand that, but for you to think that apology was for you just exemplifies how out of whack you are with where the American people are right now.

Sullivan added, “And, I am not going to be lectured by these people. Are you kidding me? These people support representatives to Congress that protect pedophiles and sex traffickers. They’re completely fine with American citizens being gunned down on the streets of Minnesota. They’re fine with putting people in cages and treating them like animals. We’re toxic, Andrew? I don’t think so. That’s the difference between us and you.”

Welch added, “And for those of you at Turning Point who are worried that I don’t talk enough but yet you do not believe in universal human rights, I want you to hear me: F*ck off. F*ck all the way off.”
