The number of job advertisements in Bulgaria remained virtually unchanged in September compared with the previous month, according to the monthly analysis by HR company and career website JobTiger, received by BTA on Tuesday.
A total of 37,251 job ads were recorded in September, compared with 37,267 in August, a difference of just 16 listings, or a decline of around 0.04%.
Following an increase of nearly 6% in August, the labour market did not continue to grow in September but retained the level reached the previous month.
Compared with September 2025, the number of job ads was about 9.5% lower, or roughly 3,900 fewer listings. According to the company, this makes September a month of relative stability rather than one of clear growth or decline.
Sector trends diverge
Among the larger categories, the strongest increase was recorded in Trade and Sales, where job offers rose by 683 from August, or 7.4%. Listings also increased in Marketing and Advertising by around 8.7% and in Human Resources by nearly 8%. Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals saw a more moderate rise of 2.4%.
Administrative and Support Activities, as well as Construction, remained virtually unchanged.
The largest monthly decline was recorded in Hotels and Restaurants, where job advertisements fell by around 5.7%. JobTiger said the end of the summer season may partly explain the decrease.
Listings also declined in Accounting, Audit and Finance by around 3%, Manufacturing by about 1.2%, and IT by around 1%.
JobTiger said the stable overall result in September did not mean there was no movement in the labour market, but rather that increases in some sectors offset declines in others.
Trade and sales remains largest category
Trade and Sales continued to account for the largest share of all job offers monitored, at around 27%. Manufacturing followed with approximately 18%, Hotels and Restaurants with about 13%, and Administrative and Support Activities with around 11%. In IT, the annual decline remained around 22%, while the monthly change in September was minimal.
Year-on-year, job advertisements remained below their September 2025 levels in most categories.
Sofia records growth as some other major cities decline
Across the six major cities monitored, the total number of job advertisements increased by around 1% compared with August.
Listings rose by about 4% in Sofia and by approximately 2% in Stara Zagora. The number in Burgas remained almost unchanged. Declines were recorded in the other monitored cities, with job ads down around 3% in Plovdiv, 6% in Varna and 5% in Ruse.
Sofia continued to account for the largest share of job advertisements, at around 40% of all listings monitored. Plovdiv accounted for approximately 10% and Varna for around 7%.
JobTiger said the regional picture in September was more mixed than in August, when increases were recorded in most of the cities monitored.
Remote job ads rise for second consecutive month
A total of 2,533 advertisements for remote and work-from-home positions were recorded in September on platforms where this indicator is available.
This was an increase of around 2.5% from August, marking a second consecutive monthly rise. However, remote job ads remained nearly 25% lower year-on-year, JobTiger said. They accounted for around 7.3% of the monitored listings.
IT positions continued to make up the largest share of remote job advertisements, at around 44%. Administrative and Support Activities followed with approximately 22%, business process outsourcing (BPO) with around 17%, and Trade and Sales with about 12%.
Job advertisements in Bulgaria increased by 5.9% in August compared with July, JobTiger said in early September. At the time, the company noted that the number of listings remained slightly below the June level and was 9.4% lower than in August 2025.
