Justice Minister Nikolay Naydenov on Saturday highlighted the joint efforts of the Ministry of Justice, the Notary Chamber and all other stakeholders to amend a number of laws to prevent and combat property fraud, with a particular focus on protecting the interests of vulnerable groups of the population. He listed the Inheritance Act, the Civil Procedure Code, the Family Code, the Obligations and Contracts Act, the Property Act and the Civil Registration Act as laws which need revising, the Justice Ministry reported in a press release.
Naydenov made the observation during a conference hosted by the Notary Chamber on the occasion of its professional holiday. International guests were among the attendees.
The event opened with the establishment of the Institute for Professional Training and Development of the Notarial Profession, known as NOTA. The Minister said: “NOTA could also serve as a consultative platform for discussing legislative initiatives to support the Ministry of Justice in preparing compliance analyses and impact assessments of legislation related to e-notarization and the digitalization of proceedings.” Naydenov added that the institute could turn theoretical training into a dynamic tool for combating property fraud.
In his welcoming remarks, the Justice Minister noted that many young people are choosing this profession with the aim of practising it in the service of citizens and businesses.
