Balgarianovinite.com Associate Professor Tsvetelina Tsvetkova, Dean of the Faculty of Screen Arts at the Krastyo Sarafov National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA), said that as a person of the arts, she believes that art, music and theatre are key to the development of young people. She was speaking from the stage of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre on Saturday, where nine new school hymns created under the Svetilnik (Candlelight) initiative, organized by Musicautor, were presented.
A flash mob featuring students and the Bulgarian National Radio Children’s Choir preceded the concert.
Tsvetkova presented a Musicautor certificate for a donated school hymn to the Konstantin Velichkov 45th School of Sofia.
“I am grateful to all students from across the country who are taking part in this wonderful Svetilnik initiative. It is a great honour for me to be part of this event. My first reason for pride is purely personal, as I am a musician and have been connected to music from an early age. That is why such an event is deeply emotional for me,” Tsvetkova said.
She added that she was proud because for five years now, NATFA has been a partner of Svetilnik and the Academy’s students have been happy to participate in the creation of the videos accompanying the hymns.
During the ceremony, Musicautor Managing Director Ivan Dimitrov presented Assoc. Prof. Tsvetkova with a plaque in recognition of the long-standing partnership.
Since its launch in 2021, the Svetilnik initiative has brought together more than 31,000 students and nearly 2,300 teachers from 20 settlements through music, creativity and shared values. It has also involved more than 190 authors and five graduating classes from the Faculty of Screen Arts of the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA), which participated in producing the videos accompanying the anthems.
BTA has been a media partner of the initiative since its inception in 2021. The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Bulgarian National Television (BNT), the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR), the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA), the Ivan Vazov National Theatre and Sofia Municipality.
