Nearly 14,000 unemployed people started work in September with the assistance of labour offices, while vacancies reported by employers rose by 12% from the previous month, the National Employment Agency said on Friday.
A total of 10,800 vacancies were announced on the primary labour market, 1,141 more than in August. At the end of September, the registered unemployment rate stood at 5.43%, with 154,096 people registered as unemployed.
During the month, 15,000 people received support in finding work, developing professionally or changing jobs. Of these, 13,836 were unemployed people who found jobs through labour offices, while 1,164 employed people, students and pensioners received assistance with changing jobs or developing their careers.
The largest shares of vacancies were in education, manufacturing, public administration, trade and motor vehicle repair. Employers were also seeking staff in administrative and support services, accommodation and food services, healthcare and social work.
More than 5,280 economically inactive people were encouraged in September to take steps towards entering the labour market. The Employment Agency also works through Roma mediators to reach people outside both employment and the registered unemployment system and connect them with labour offices.
Another 505 people from vulnerable groups started work under subsidized employment programmes and measures, including people with disabilities, young people without professional experience, people over 55 and the long-term unemployed. Of these, 445 joined projects under the Human Resources Development Programme 2021-2027, co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus.
Among the occupations most in demand were teachers, care workers, salespeople, motor vehicle drivers, stationary plant and machine operators, and workers in mining, manufacturing, construction and transport.
Employers were also looking for business and administration professionals, workers in food, clothing and wood-product manufacturing, personal service workers, cleaners and helpers, and waste collection workers.
On October 15, the Employment Agency opened a second application round under the Specific Skills for the Workforce project, which enables employers to improve employees’ qualifications through training tailored to their specific business needs.
