Balgarianovinite.com A new passenger terminal was inaugurated at Mihail Kogalniceanu International Airport in Constanta, Romania, on Tuesday, local media reported, describing it as a major infrastructure milestone for the region. The facility covers an area of 4,300 square metrеs.
The new terminal is a landmark project designed to increase the airport’s operational capacity, airport representatives said, as quoted by Agerpres. They added that the investment strengthens Constanta County’s strategic role as an international transport hub, supporting regional tourism and economic activity in the Dobruja region.
Due to the transfer of equipment to the new terminal, the airport will be temporarily closed to civilian air traffic from 12 p.m. on March 20 until 7:30 p.m. on March 21.
Regular flights operated by Turkish Airlines and Wizz Air on March 20 and 21, 2026, will not be affected, as they are scheduled outside the closure period, according to the source.
During the shutdown, military aircraft, as well as flights conducting search and rescue, medical evacuation, and air policing missions, will still be permitted to operate at the airport, Euronews Romania reported. Until now, the airport had been operating with a single terminal capable of handling up to 1,000 passengers per hour.
