All branches of government in Bulgaria must work together, presidential candidate Iliana Iotova said on Sunday, calling for political stability and joint solutions to issues affecting citizens.
At a meeting with residents at the House of Culture in Gotse Delchev, she also called for restoring effective state institutions.
She identified incomes, employment, education, healthcare and opportunities for young people to remain in Bulgaria as the main areas requiring action.
Iotova said supporting small municipalities and those in mountainous areas through dedicated programmes and funding was a priority. She cited Gotse Delchev as an example of successful local development and thanked Mayor Vladimir Moskov for his work.
Her address also covered poverty, the need for tax relief and incentives for young people. She drew attention to healthcare, noting that some Bulgarians had no access to treatment.
On the war in Ukraine, Iotova said there could be no military solution and that Bulgaria should not allow its troops to be sent there. She called for Bulgaria to take part in the Coalition for Peace and seek opportunities for negotiations.
Iotova also discussed the opportunities she saw in Bulgaria’s geographical position and the development of energy and infrastructure corridors.
Earlier on Sunday, Iotova and vice-presidential candidate Kiril Valchev visited Sandanski, Rupite and the ancient city of Heraclea Sintica.
