The former commander of the Army of Republika Srpska will be buried in Belgrade later on Monday, September 7. His coffin is at the Church of St Luke in the Belgrade district of Vidikovac.
Members of the public will be able to pay their respects until 12:00 local time (13:00 Bulgarian time) on Monday, when Serbian Patriarch Porfirije will conduct the funeral service.
Ratko Mladic’s son, Darko Mladic, as well as his former colleagues and friends, are present at the church.
Mladic’s coffin is decorated with his military cap and sabre, while his military decorations, together with a photograph of him and a wreath in the colours of the Serbian flag have been placed in front of it. Members of the Serbian army are standing beside the coffin.
Following the funeral service, Mladic will be buried at Topcider Cemetery next to the grave of his daughter Ana, who took her own life with his personal weapon in 1994 in circumstances that remain unclear.
On Saturday, a memorial ceremony for Ratko Mladic was held in Belgrade in the presence of Serbian Justice Minister Nenad Vujic and numerous politicians from Republika Srpska.
