Despite all the talk surrounding Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s new reality TV show, it has struggled to find a significant audience.
On Wednesday, The Great American Road Trip premiered on YouTube. The five-episode series chronicles Duffy and his family’s journey across the country. In the second episode of the show, Duffy notably told his teenage daughter that Harvard University “corrupts” the minds of “good young girls” and advised her to avoid the Ivy League institution.
At the time of writing, the first 24 hours have not been kind to The Great American Road Trip. First episode garnered a little under 2,900 views. As is often the case with shows, viewership steadily declined from there. The second episode had approximately 1,700 views in the first day, but the final three had just 750, 625, and 659, respectively.

In total, the mini-series combined for a total of 6,679 views at the time of writing for an average of 1,336 per episode.

Duffy has faced intense scrutiny in the months leading up to the show’s premiere. Critics specifically pointed to the timing of the series, accusing the secretary of being “out of touch” for taping a show about a road trip at a time when gas prices were soaring due to the war in Iran.
In defense of the show, however, Duffy emphasized that no taxpayers were used to produce it. The Great American Road Trip also dealt with a lengthy delay over what Duffy described as “extra editing” needed to comply with ethics rules.
