The Sofia City Hall will be illuminated in green to mark World Cerebral Palsy Day, the Municipality said on Tuesday.
Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev emphasized that people with cerebral palsy and their families should have access to support throughout their lives, covering early rehabilitation, childhood care, education, employment, independence and full participation in day-to-day life. The mayor also highlighted Emre Halilov, a professional with cerebral palsy, as an example of how talent and opportunity can help people contribute fully to society.
Sofia Municipality covers nearly 40% of the costs of the St. Sofia Specialized Hospital for Pediatric Cerebral Palsy Rehabilitation, which cares for around 120 children. The city also has 25 social rehabilitation and day-care centers offering therapy, rehabilitation and social support to children and adults with cerebral palsy, the Municipality pointed out, adding that it also works with NGOs to provide day care, rehabilitation, aquatic therapy and skills training for children and young people with disabilities.
