Balgarianovinite.com The most important lesson people can learn is to be humane, kind and united, and to move forward together through all challenges, Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev said on Saturday. He was speaking from the stage of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre in Sofia, where nine new school hymns created under Musicautor’s Svetilnik (Candlelight) initiative were presented.
Terziev presented a Musicautor certificate on a hymn donated to Sofia’s Bratya Miladinovi Secondary School, which was accepted by the school’s principal, Mariana Georgieva.
A flash mob featuring pupils and the Bulgarian National Radio Children’s Choir preceded the concert.
“I want to thank all the children for the incredible emotion, for their beautiful lyrics and beautiful music, which they performed wonderfully,” Terziev said. “I feel reassured because I know that the children will truly be fireflies and will carry the light.”
He also thanked the people who guide children along their path, including school principals and teachers, for helping them become not only educated but also humane individuals. Addressing the children, Terziev urged them to remain upright, smiling and proud, and never to forget their school, their teachers and all the people helping them move forward.
Since its launch in 2021, the Svetilnik Initiative has brought together more than 31,000 pupils and nearly 2,300 teachers from 20 settlements through music, creativity and shared values. It has also involved more than 190 authors and five graduating classes of the Faculty of Screen Arts of the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA), which participated in producing the videos accompanying the hymns.
BTA has been a media partner of the initiative since its inception in 2021. The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Bulgarian National Television (BNT), the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR), the NATFA, the Ivan Vazov National Theatre and Sofia Municipality.
