President Donald Trump escalated his increasingly personal battle with a federal judge overseeing his plans to overhaul a historic Washington golf course with a late-night photo dump on Truth Social and demanding she “study” what he called “Trash Island.”

The posts came hours after U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes grilled administration officials over the redevelopment of East Potomac Golf Links and questioned their claim that the recent felling of hundreds of trees was unrelated to Trump’s plans for the site.
“Here are pictures of Trash Island for the judge to study. This is just a small area, and better than some!” Trump wrote on Truth Social alongside almost 30 images showing debris and damaged structures around the course.

Hours earlier, in another Truth Social post, the president slammed the lawsuit challenging his redevelopment plans as “frivolous litigation” before “a judge that seems not to want greatness for our capital or our nation.”
Trump said the course had been “badly managed for so many decades” and vowed that his redevelopment plan would “turn trash Island into an island of beauty and success.”

The feud intensified after Trump unveiled plans Sunday for an 18-hole championship course designed by architect Tom Fazio, saying the public facility would close Nov. 15 for roughly 15 months.
The announcement landed awkwardly in court because administration attorneys had previously maintained that plans were still conceptual and had not reached a final stage.
Judge Reyes told government lawyers Monday: “I have, on the one hand, the president of the United States saying to the American public three times now, I think, in the last two days, there is a final plan to redesign the golf course. Then I have you all telling me and, you know, witnesses saying what they’re saying, that there’s no final plan. Which is it?”
Reyes has already temporarily halted further tree removals after more than 400 trees were cut down, questioning the administration’s explanation that the work stemmed from a years-old preservation plan rather than Trump’s redevelopment push.
“There is no universe in which all of this coincidentally happened all at the same time,” she said Monday.
The administration has separately sought to have Reyes removed from the case, accusing her of bias. She declined to recuse herself.

Trump, meanwhile, has called the Biden-appointed judge a “crazed lunatic” as the dispute over the course, and the fate of hundreds of trees on federal land, continues.
