President Donald Trump capped off his big day by going on a searing social media rant against CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins, right before the clock hit midnight on Tuesday night.
The president didn’t hold back in a Truth Social post, which he shared at 11:53 p.m ET. He accused Collins of being a “truly unhappy person” who was nothing more than a third rate “reporter” — which he put in quotes — before lumping her in with the rest of the “treasonous” mainstream press.
Trump also diagnosed Collins with a full-blown “addiction” to him — an affliction which he said MS NOW suffers from as well.

All of the SLEAZEBAGS, like Third Rate “Reporter,” Kaitlan Collins, of Fake News CNN, a truly unhappy person, said they weren’t going to be covering me. Then why were they ranting and raving like Lunatics, in the Press Area, at the United Nations? Why was she there?
She’s got a “TRUMP” addiction, and so does CNN and MSDNC. They’re all sick, treasonous, and demented! The “good news” is that they have a great, for them, and totally disloyal Judge. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DONALD J. TRUMP
The president was clearly still agitated by what happened 13 hours earlier, when Collins was among the horde of reporters shouting questions at him as soon as he walked into the United Nations headquarters.
Trump started off by saying he was honored to be at the UN — before immediately noticing CNN was among the outlets in front of him. He then pivoted to calling out the channel, saying they should not be there following his ban on the outlet, as well as MS NOW and Politico, last week.
“I’m surprised that CNN is here covering me. You shouldn’t be here!” Trump said.
Collins barked back “the United Nations allowed us in, sir.”
“You should not be here covering me,” Trump continued. “You said you weren’t going to cover me, you shouldn’t be covering me.”
He then put up his right hand as if to say “shut up” when reporters started shouting questions at him. Trump then reiterated he was honored to be there, before walking away with First Lady Melania Trump flanking him.
Soon after, CNN blew off covering Trump’s UN speech while it happened.
The Situation Room co-host Wolf Blitzer explained at the start of the show that Trump would be speaking momentarily and that CNN had a live feed from the UN. But instead of airing the speech live, Blitzer said CNN would show any “newsworthy moments” that came up.
CNN must not have deemed much of the speech newsworthy, because it did not play a second of Trump’s speech as he made it; the channel played a brief clip of Trump talking about the Iran war at 11:08 a.m. ET, a few minutes after he walked off stage.
For comparison, Fox News broadcast the full speech, while MS NOW showed the first 20 minutes before cutting away to a live “fact-checking” segment.
All of this happened amid Trump’s press ban, which MS NOW, CNN, and Politico banded together to sue the president over a day earlier. Based on Trump’s Truth post, he doesn’t sound optimistic the court will let him keep it in place.
