Tucker Carlson sat down with the parents of accused D.C. pipe bomber Brian Cole Jr., whom he believes has been framed in a case that baffled federal authorities for years.
The former Fox News host revealed a preview of The Tucker Carlson Show interview in an X post on Thursday.
“The parents of Brian Cole Jr., the man arrested for planting the J6 pipe bombs, say their son was framed by the federal government,” the text accompanying the post reads. “We believe them.”
“Thank you for doing this,” Carlson tells Brian Cole Sr. and Delicia Cole in the preview.
Carlson then asks: “How did you find out your son had been arrested?”
“A DOJ officer — FBI agent — gave me a call. ‘You mean to tell me you’re on the phone telling me the person they’re talking about on TV is my son?’ He was like, ‘Yes.’”
Delicia Cole added: “You go blind because you hear what they’re saying, but because it’s Brian, you’re like, ‘no.’ You most definitely got the wrong person. This is not for real.”
Carlson then called the case “one of the most shocking stories” he’s seen in years, though many relatives of a high-profile suspect think he or she is being framed: “I’ve never believed it more fervently than I do in this case.”
He then played a video of the suspect on the night he planted the bombs, and asked if the suspect’s gait matches that of Brian Cole Jr.
“I think most parents know what their children move like,” Carlson said. “Does that look like your son?”
“Not at all,” his mother replied.
Carlson added: “You’re looking at a kind of made-for-TV-movie-type conspiracy. They grabbed this random autistic guy and put him in jail like right after Steve Baker named his federal employee as the pipe bomber. This is shocking!”
The explosive devices were placed at the offices of the RNC and the DNC between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on January 5, 2021, hours before supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol in a bid to stop the certification of the 2020 presidential election results.
The bombs discovered before they could be detonated, and no one was injured.
There were few significant developments in the case until December 2025, when the younger Cole was arrested.
He later confessed, saying he planted the devices because he felt “someone needs to speak up” for those who believed the 2020 election was rigged. He also said he was upset people were being labeled “fascists” and “Nazis” for questioning the election.
Cole has pleaded not guilty, but his attorney has floated the possibility that Cole’s case could fall under the blanket pardons that Trump gave to every participant of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot shortly after he began his second term.
A federal judge rejected the move in July.
Carlson has grabbed headlines recently for several inflammatory statements, including that Trump personally ordered the Epstein files cover-up, defending Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, and that Trump should be removed from office “immediately” over his nuclear posture.
