September 6 marked two months until Bulgaria’s presidential elections, but with the electorate still in the dark about who most major parties’ candidates will be.
One of the big questions about the complicated game in which the players are still not known is whether this is an expression of contempt for the electorate, as some see it.
Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, the race – billed as being characterised by unprecedented transparency – to be the next UN Secretary-General is continuing. Will this really be the open process it is purported to be, or will it all be settled by a geopolitical compromise in a (presumably proverbially) smoke-filled room? And what will be the fate of Bulgaria’s controversial candidate, Irina Bokova
