Balgarianovinite.com Turkiye will send a search and rescue team to Venezuela following the 7.5-magnitude earthquake that caused extensive damage and claimed 235 lives, according to the latest official figures reported by Turkish state broadcaster TRT Haber.
The rescue team is scheduled to depart from Istanbul Ataturk Airport on Friday. Preparations for the deployment have been coordinated by the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Health, and the General Directorate of Security under the Presidency of the Republic of Turkiye.
An A400M military transport aircraft has been provided in coordination with the Turkish General Staff. The 37-member search and rescue and emergency medical team will be drawn from AFAD’s provincial directorates in İzmir and Denizli.
The Turkish Ministry of Health will deploy six medical rescue teams, while the Turkish Red Crescent will contribute two personnel, two search-and-rescue dogs, and three vehicles equipped for rescue operations.
Meanwhile, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the country’s embassy in Caracas, continues to monitor the situation closely and assess Venezuela’s humanitarian needs in the aftermath of the earthquake.
