Vice President JD Vance took a strong stance Monday on whether he would back Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is facing a tough re-election at home.
Speaking with journalist Mark Halperin for Halperin’s 2WAY TONIGHT, Vance wouldn’t budge when pressed on whether he would follow President Donald Trump’s lead and endorse Netanyahu:
MARK HALPERIN: Over the weekend, the president endorsed Benjamin Netanyahu for re-election in Israel. Do you endorse Benjamin Netanyahu?
VANCE: The president has the most effective endorsement in American or international political history. I endorse American candidates, and that’s where I’m focused on in the midterms. So I’m not getting involved in Israeli elections.
HALPERIN: So you’re not — you don’t want to say one way or the other?
VANCE: I’m not anti-endorsing him. I’m not pro-endorsing him. I’m not getting involved in Israeli elections.
HALPERIN: Right, OK. Fair enough.

The journalist didn’t point out that Vance had campaigned in April with Hungary’s Viktor Orbán, or that he met with all four major political parties in Germany in February, including the far-right Alternative for Germany party, which Elon Musk boosted.

Normal men or women in such situations would have wilted under the pressure — But Bibi did not wilt, he actually got stronger, and maintains that same Strength today. This is the kind of Partner that the United States of America is demanding of Israel, a Country for which it has done so much.
