President Donald Trump’s White House reportedly booted The Independent’s Andrew Feinberg from his Thursday press pool assignment, just one day after the president lashed out at the reporter in the Oval Office.

During a Tuesday press gaggle, Trump repeatedly clashed with Feinberg, at one point pointing at the reporter and warning, “I don’t know who the hell you are, but you better be careful,” despite Feinberg having identified himself to the president just minutes earlier.
The tensions began when Feinberg questioned Trump about his administration’s plan to offer a 1% commission to whistleblowers who uncover federal fraud, prompting Vice President JD Vance to accuse him of asking a “fundamentally dishonest question.” Later, when Feinberg attempted to ask about the president’s golf courses, Trump growled at him to be “quiet” before snapping, “What’s wrong with you? Are you a sick person?”

“Not that I know of, sir,” the reporter responded.
“I actually think there’s something wrong with you,” the president doubled down.
Feinberg later wrote about the experience for The Independent, promising, “I was doing my job, and I’ll be right back at it tomorrow.”

By Wednesday, though, Semafor’s Max Tani shared an update on social media, writing that Feinberg “was slated to serve as the print pool reporter on Thursday” but now “confirms to me that, without explanation, the White House told him today that he would no longer be the print pooler on Trump’s Thursday trip.”
The president is scheduled to hold a rally in Sioux City, Iowa.
Also part of the tirade against Feinberg was a Wednesday post from the official White House “Rapid Response 47” social media account that used a term historically applied to Indigenous people from parts of Asia and later to people with Down syndrome, with both usages now widely considered outdated and offensive.
