Balgarianovinite.com People from Bulgaria, Serbia and North Macedonia came together for a traditional convention in Serbia’s Golesh area near the borders with Bulgaria and North Macedonia on July 12. This year’s edition was hosted by the Municipality of Kriva Palanka, with the Municipalities of Bosilegrad and Kyustendil also contributing to the preparations and the cultural programme.
At the opening of the convention, Kyustendil Mayor Ognyan Atanasov noted that this is the only place in the region where the borders of three countries and three municipalities – Kyustendil, Bosilegrad, and Kriva Palanka – converge. He noted that the municipalities are setting a good example by helping each other, and explained that Kyustendil and Kriva Palanka are carrying out a joint project to establish operational amusement parks in both municipalities. Together with the Municipality of Bosilegrad, they plan to purchase all-terrain vehicles to clear roads. “Through joint efforts, we can do many wonderful things for the citizens living on all three sides of the border,” Atanasov noted.
Bosilegrad Mayor Vladimir Zahariev said he is proud to be Bulgarian, but that on this day, nationality does not matter because everyone is one. He added that this date marks the 21st anniversary of the first Golesh gathering.
Kriva Palanka Mayor Sashko Mitovski said that “we must together cherish, preserve, and pass on from generation to generation the legacy left to us by our ancestors.” He explained that borders may physically separate countries, but nothing can divide what is founded on respect, love, and understanding.
