Presidential candidate Andrey Gurov and vice-presidential candidate Georgi Kandev outlined their main priorities for Bulgaria at a public discussion on Saturday.
The candidates were put forward by a nomination committee. The event was held in the concert hall of the Municipal Youth Centre in Shumen.
Gurov pledged that he and Kandev would always work for Bulgaria’s independence and security. They would identify problems, set out solutions and make clear who bore the cost. They would act openly, account for all their work and serve as president and vice president for all Bulgarian citizens, regardless of origin, ethnicity or religion, whether they were from Shumen, Blagoevgrad or Sofia, and whether they lived in Bulgaria or abroad.
“All these people are Bulgarian citizens and deserve a state that works for them, rather than a state they have to work for. These are four reasons, and that is no coincidence, because on October 25 we expect our society as a whole to turn out and say: this is the future we want, and we will choose it by voting for number 4,” Gurov said.
Gurov said their campaign aimed to create balance and enable everyone to work together to build the city and country they deserved and knew they could have. He and Kandev could promise a European, democratic, secure and prosperous Bulgaria, he added.
Both candidates then answered questions from Shumen residents.
