“We must consistently support Ukraine,” Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said following a meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev, who is on an official visit to Warsaw.
Tusk recalled Russia’s aggressive actions and the problems they are causing Poland, including attacks in Ukraine near the Polish border and the evacuation of border crossing points. He warned that the coming winter could be critical.
Donald Tusk said he was aware of the differences between Poland and Bulgaria, but stressed that the two countries share the view that the war between Russia and Ukraine must end. Tusk emphasized that he does not see any willingness on the part of Russian President Vladimir Putin in this regard.
He stressed that Europe’s future belongs to countries such as Poland and Bulgaria and highlighted the traditionally good relations between the two countries.
Tusk emphasized that cooperation with Bulgaria is a priority for Poland. Europe’s heart is beating strongly in our region today, and Europe’s future belongs to countries such as Poland and Bulgaria, Tusk said.
The two sides discussed economic cooperation between the two countries, with a focus on the defence industry, Tusk said, adding that he was ready and willing to further strengthen this cooperation. He welcomed the Bulgarian Parliament’s decision to designate February 14 as Bulgarian-Polish Friendship and Cooperation Day and said that the Polish Sejm is also expected to adopt a similar decision.
