Zhivko “Gissen” Tenev and Tsocho Peev have been selected by an international jury to represent Bulgaria at the Fourth International Cartoon Biennale in Korce, Albania, the Gissen team said Monday.
This year’s edition is themed “Angel or Devil” and is dedicated to the duality of human nature, social systems and the behaviour of public figures. It focuses on the contradiction between appearances and reality, as well as the tension between the different sides of human decisions and actions.
According to Zhivko Tenev, the theme does not seek definitive answers but offers different perspectives. It draws attention to the need to look beyond what is visible and use the tools of caricature to reveal irony, contradictions and hidden truths, his team said.
