No Decrease Noted in Ship Traffic at Varna, Burgas Ports, Transport Minister Says

There has been no decline in ship traffic at the ports of Varna and Burgas during the month of hostilities, Transport and Communications Minister Georgi Peev told reporters in the village of Kaloyanovo, Plovdiv Region, on Tuesday. Statistics even point to a slight increase, he added.
The effects of the hostilities and strikes near Bulgarian territory will be monitored in the future, Peev said. He added that the Government was working hard to ensure export opportunities for grain producers. “A railway crossing is being discussed, and we are developing various measures to ensure optimal conditions,” the Minister said.
The Chelsea-3 vessel is at the Port of Burgas, where Bulgarian authorities are currently conducting an investigation, Peev said. He added that debris had already been found and would be analysed. If Bulgarian authorities lack the technical capacity to carry out the analysis, Bulgaria will involve partner organisations with experience in similar investigations, the Minister said. He noted that his Ministry’s responsibilities had been to organise and coordinate the operation.
