Democratic Bulgaria Demands Extraordinary Parliamentary Sitting over Starlink Antenna Arson 2026

Democratic Bulgaria (DB) called for an extraordinary parliamentary sitting to hear Prime Minister Rumen Radev, Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev, and State Agency for National Security Chairman Plamen Tonchev on the measures taken in response to the arson attack on antennas used to communicate with the Starlink satellite system near the village of Plana, the coalition’s press office announced on Tuesday. They will also demand information regarding the identification and search for the suspects, who, according to reports, have left the country.
Signatures will be collected on Wednesday, and the request is for the extraordinary sitting to be held on Thursday, October 22, the coalition’s press office added. Tomorrow, MPs will convene for an extraordinary sitting at the request of Continue the Change Chair Assen Vassilev and a group of MPs on the case of Ognyan Atanasov, known as the “Petrich Escobar”.
DB’s statement adds that during the hearing in the National Assembly on October 14, Prime Minister Radev urged the chairman of the State Agency for National Security not to disclose details, arguing that this would hinder the investigation. He assured MPs that the situation was under control. “It subsequently became clear that the suspects had left the country. This requires an immediate explanation to the National Assembly regarding the chronology of events, any potential errors, and who bears responsibility for them,” DB stated.
