A Florida woman was arrested after her estranged husband discovered surveillance footage showing her allegedly engaging in sexual activity with the family dog, authorities said Wednesday.
Malia Nummerdor, 38, was taken into custody in Port Charlotte, Florida, and charged with sexual activity involving animals. She remains in the Charlotte County Jail on $35,000 bond.
The investigation began after Nummerdor’s estranged husband, Erik Nummerdor, publicly accused her of the conduct on Facebook on Sept. 11, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by People.
A Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office detective saw the posts himself and subsequently spoke with Erik, who said he had installed two surveillance cameras inside the couple’s home. One camera was put in his bedroom in an attempt to find out who was taking money from a coin container.
“He stated the bedroom camera was visible, displayed a blinking red light, and was known to household members,” the detective wrote, according to People. “The camera recorded continuously in rolling intervals, overwriting older footage.”
Erik told investigators that while going through the recordings, he discovered footage involving Malia and the family dog, Ranger.
“I reviewed the images and observed an adult female, identified by Erik as Malia, nude from the waist down, positioned with the dog in a manner consistent with sexual activity,” the detective concluded in the affidavit.
When authorities questioned Malia on Tuesday, whom they note seemed under the influence of some sort of substance, she confirmed that she was the woman shown in the footage and that Ranger belonged to her. While she denied that anything sexual had occurred, the sheriff’s office said she “could not provide a consistent explanation for what was seen on the camera.”
Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell blasted the alleged conduct in a statement following her arrest, writing, “There are only a few times in my career that I have been at a loss for words. This is one of those times… And then to smile in the mugshot? I don’t know what there is to smile about when you’ve been arrested for something as disgusting as this.”
