Former Vice President Kamala Harris suggested President Donald Trump should resign over his administration’s restrictions on press access to the White House, questioning, “Why don’t you just leave?!”
The president announced the ban on CNN, MS NOW, and Politico on Sept. 18, accusing the outlets of biased coverage. The three organizations subsequently sued, prompting Trump-appointed U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly to temporarily block the unprecedented move. Kelly extended that order on Oct. 8 while considering a longer-term injunction.

Meanwhile, the Justice Department just launched an antitrust investigation into the five major television networks — ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and Fox News — after they suspended White House press pool coverage in protest of the ban, and the Trump administration has prevented outlets like CNN and Politico from fulfilling their scheduled Air Force One press pool duties.
Harris, who unsuccessfully ran against Trump in the 2024 presidential election, joined Tuesday’s edition of actress Keke Palmer’s podcast, Baby, This Is Keke Palmer.

Palmer raised the issue, asking, “What does this dispute mean for the public’s right to know what the government is doing?”
“It shows the extent to which the current occupant of the White House has such a fragile ego that he can’t, as president of the United States, tolerate major news outlets listening to what he’s saying and watching what he’s doing,” the former vice president began. “If you can’t stand people to watch what you’re doing and listen to what you’re saying, one has to ask — what are you doing?”
“It is clear that he is afraid that the American people, through journalists and the media, will see too much and know the incompetence, the cruelty, and the corruption that is coming out of that administration, and that scares them,” Harris continued. “You’re in the wrong place. If you want to do things in secret, then why don’t you just leave the White House?!”
