Presidential candidate Iliana Iotova and vice-presidential candidate Kiril Valchev met with representatives of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) and the Podkrepa Confederation of Labour on Thursday, focusing on the 2027 budget, collective bargaining, social dialogue and sectoral policies.
During the meeting, Iotova highlighted the social aspects of the budget and identified culture and education as priorities. She said she would follow CITUB’s position on the remuneration of young doctors and also discussed ways in which the State could encourage collective bargaining.
Valchev said one of the ticket’s messages was that people should remain in Bulgaria and that young people should have opportunities to develop in the country. He also proposed establishing a Consultative Council on Youth Strategies.
On collective bargaining, Iotova said people’s rights to secure incomes and labour protection should be upheld. The talks also covered the minimum wage, regional disparities and the EU’s multiannual financial framework.
Valchev said a successful presidential term would mean population growth and a situation in which no working person was unable to cover the minimum cost of living.
