Rayna Mandzhukova Praises Bulgarian Community Organization in Hungary at World Meeting of Bulgarian Media

Many minority self-governing bodies in Hungary have ceased to exist, unlike the Bulgarian self-government, which was recently described in Parliament as one of the most successful and loyal republican self-governing bodies in the country, Rayna Mandzhukova, Executive Director of the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad, said at the official opening of the 21st World Meeting of Bulgarian Media in Budapest on Monday.
Mandzhukova thanked the Bulgarian News Agency for the invitation and praised the choice of Budapest as host, describing the Bulgarian organisation there as one of the most successful in the world. She attributed its achievements to the combination of the experience and revival spirit of older generations with the energy and innovation of younger people.
She voiced confidence that the meeting would foster valuable exchanges and provide Bulgarian media abroad with ideas they could apply when working with Bulgarian communities in their respective countries.
Mandzhukova also called on Bulgarian media abroad to establish an association and build closer ties with the Bulgarian state. She reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to working with them as a partner and friend.
The Monday programme of the 21st World Meeting of Bulgarian Media began at 9 a.m. with a meeting between participants and Marton Hajdu, Chair of the Hungarian Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee.
The participants were subsequently given the opportunity to tour the parliament building, including its ceremonial staircase, and view the Holy Crown of Hungary. The delegation was welcomed by Zoltan Tar, Hungary’s Minister of Public Relations and Culture, who received a plaque bearing the image of St John of Rila as a gift.
The programme continued with the opening of an exhibition dedicated to Bulgarian-Hungarian Friendship Day in the foyer of the Barankovics building, an office building for members of the Hungarian Parliament.
BTA is organizing the 21st World Meeting of Bulgarian Media in Hungary with the support of DSK Bank, OTP Group, Aurubis Bulgaria, A1, SOF Connect – the operator of Vasil Levski Sofia Airport, Geotechmin, Postbank and the 13 Centuries Bulgaria National Endowment Fund. The forum is expected to bring together participants from 25 countries, both in person and online.
