Balgarianovinite.com Vazrazhdane has called for Parliament to include in this week’s agenda a hearing with State Agency for National Security (SANS) Chair Plamen Tonchev on the continuing activities of the KYB group.
KYB is a Ukrainian development company linked to an alleged illegal construction scheme in the Baba Alino area near the Black Sea city of Varna. Authorities allege that some 100 residential buildings were erected on forest land without valid permits, prompting criminal investigations into suspected official misconduct, forged documents, false declarations and illegal logging.
“We are requesting a hearing with the new SANS Chair because KYB’s activities began during his term as head of the agency and have continued to this day, now that he has returned to the post,” MP Kosta Stoyanov said. “We want to know what actions he took while leading SANS. Companies linked to KYB are being rebranded in order to continue their illegal activities,” he added.
A proposal on the same subject was submitted on July 15 and rejected by the National Assembly. “The time limit under Parliament’s rules of procedure for resubmitting it has not yet expired, making the new proposal inadmissible. I will therefore not put it to a vote,” National Assembly Chair Mihaela Dotsova said.
On Wednesday, Parliament is scheduled to consider procedural rules for nominating candidates for governor and deputy governor of the National Health Insurance Fund.
