Vice-presidential candidate Georgi Kandev opened a campaign office on Wednesday in Ruse, on the Danube, for the Gurov-Kandev presidential ticket.
“Welcome to the opening of our campaign headquarters. You know where I come from and you know my background; that is why I call it a ‘headquarters’ rather than just an office. This is a hub for the exchange of ideas, for discussions, and for conversations about Bulgaria’s future. Significant conversations will take place here. I say ‘conversations,’ not ‘battles’, conversations united by a common goal, said Kandev at the opening ceremony. The candidate added that common ground among diverse opinions must be sought because Bulgaria needs unity, not division. He expressed hope that Gurov and him can embody that very unity.
He remarked that he envisions Bulgaria in 2032 as a well-positioned state within the European Union, enjoying respect among its neighbours.
“I see a modern country with a promising future and a growing population of young people. That is how I envision my homeland,” Kandev added. Ilian Georgiev, a member of the nomination committee that nominated Andrey Gurov and Kandev for president and vice president, stated that Gurov would be the president for those who voted for him and for those who did not, a president who would strike a balance between the various groups in society.
