The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and the Association of Interpreters and Translators in Bulgaria signed a partnership agreement at the BTA National Press Club in Sofia on Wednesday. The document was signed during a press conference marking the Association’s 30th anniversary and focusing on the lack of a regulatory framework governing the criteria, responsibilities and rights of translators of official documents and acts of state authorities in Bulgaria.
Drumeva described BTA as both a training ground and a place for the development of translators. She recalled the connection between the translation community and BTA, noting that one of the Association’s members, Iglika Markova, was among the organizers of an event called “The Magnificent Six” fifteen years ago, which involved members of the BTA team. “Only their names will I mention, as I could not commit to listing all translators, all colleagues, whether they worked in the field of literary translation or with you,” Drumeva said, naming Alfred Krispin, Dimitri Ivanov, Zheni Bozhilova, Krastan Dyankov, Petko Bocharov, and Todor Valchev.
