Additional EUR 250 Mln to Cover Implementation of Investment Programme for Municipal Projects

At its regular sitting on Wednesday, the Council of Ministers allocated EUR 250 million in additional transfers to the 2026 budget of the Regional Development and Public Works Ministry to cover the implementation of projects under the Investment Programme for Municipal Projects this year. The funds will be provided at stages from the central government budget, the Government Information Service reported.
The Government approved the first transfer for 2026, amounting to EUR 150 million, on August 19, 2026.
The goal is to achieve better planning and spending of the funds allocated in this year’s central budget, as well as greater efficiency and transparency in the implementation of the investment programme. The proposed approach will make it possible, during the course of budget execution throughout the year, funds for municipal projects to be allocated in a timely manner when projects are ready for immediate implementation, the press release reads.
The implementation of the Investment Programme for Municipal Projects will contribute to improving regional infrastructure development and the urban environment in populated areas and is in line with the Governance Programme of the Republic of Bulgaria for 2026-2030.
