The Council of Ministers approved the opening of a consulate of the Republic of the Congo in Bulgaria, the Government Information Service said on Wednesday.
The consulate will be headed by Bulgarian citizen Nedelin Petrov as honorary consul, in recognition of his professional experience and repeated assistance to Congolese citizens living in or visiting Bulgaria. It will be based in Sofia, with a consular district covering the entire country.
The initiative reflects both countries’ desire to preserve and strengthen their historical ties. It is also expected to expand bilateral contacts, boost trade and economic relations and facilitate cooperation between businesses and institutions, the statement said.
