Bulgaria’s Desislava Yordanova has won the Trimble Driver of the Year Award 2026, competing against more than 2,000 nominated professional truck drivers of various nationalities, the organizers’ press office said.
The award was presented to 49-year-old Yordanova on Wednesday at a ceremony in Brussels held as part of the Trimble Insights Europe forum.
Yordanova has been part of the team at Bulgarian transport and logistics company TRANSPRESS for just over two years. She started working as a truck driver without any prior experience driving heavy-duty vehicles. Over the past year alone, she has driven more than 100,000 kilometres, operating routes in Bulgaria and to France, Germany, Spain and other European countries.
The Driver of the Year award is presented annually to professional drivers who demonstrate outstanding skill, responsibility and dedication to their profession. The competition is organized by transport management platform Transporeon. Candidates are nominated by their employers and evaluated by an independent jury.
TRANSPRESS said Yordanova joined the company on May 26, 2024, and completed training at the company’s professional academy before beginning work on international routes. She is one of more than 40 women working as truck drivers at the company.
