As part of her participation in the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova met with Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie, the President’s press secretariat said on Thursday.
The two sides discussed the upcoming election of the organisation’s Secretary General, as well as the planned Francophonie Summit, which will be held in Cambodia. Iotova and Mushikiwabo agreed that the values and messages promoted by La Francophonie – peace, security, freedom, equality and tolerance – are more relevant than ever, the press secretariat said.
Iotova is visiting New York, where she is heading the Bulgarian delegation to the general political debate of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. On Wednesday, she delivered her address from the UN podium during the debate.
